If you have the 4L80 in your car with the 10 bolt rear, the 9 inch driveshaft will need to be one inch longer than what you have now. Use the "X" dimension on the chart below.



The UMI torque arm will work, you may need to grind off a little material from the torque arm bracket to get it to fit correctly.

The vent tube is on top of the driver side axle tube housing. Several feet of 5/16 -3/8 tubing is attached to it and I suggest tying it off to the driver side fuel tank strap.

Hi all,
I have a 1986 IROC Z and I found Bob through another source. I couldn't believe the price and I ordered it. Actually, I had never heard of Bob Beam before. At any rate, a few days later five boxes came and I opened them up - the 9" was beautiful. I had never put in or took out a 9" before and was a little worried so I sent Bob an email asking for help. He sent me a link with installation instructions and it looked simple. I painted all of the parts and put them in, it was a breeze. I did the install in a friends driveway, on a slope, because he has more tools. I followed the instructions for break in and the grears are silent. I have the Detroit Locker and it works great. Since I do everything backwards I replaced the in-tank fuel pump "after" the rear end install and used the "create an access panel method", that is how I know the rear end gears are quiet, I still have the access panel off. I will be buying more stuff from Bob in the future, he has my business from now on.

is there any option for tie downs?
lol my car is so low its a pain to get under there to install axle straps.
