Default pinion gear ???

Need some help I'm replacing my pinion bearings and seal and I've got everything out beside the pinion and the thing won't move. I thought they were suppose to come out fairly easy ? Any advice or maybe something I forgot to do?

You have the Ring gear and carrier out already?
You have the Pinion nut off?
You have the Yoke off?

Does it still rotate? If so, maybe tap on it with a rubber mallet.

It may be time to follow kaliente's advice and take a break.

The bearing behind the pinion yoke was a pretty tight interference fit for me. Getting it off I had to pound the pinion out with a hammer. I had to use an impact wrench on the nut while holding the yoke to press the new one on.

I think the dealer has a special tool to pull that bearing off once the nut & yoke are off.

Just tap the pinion out with a hammer but be sure to put an old nut on the pinion or use a punch. That pinion seal bearing is a tight fit if you just install the gears right out of the box. The best thing to do to avoid this problem in the future is get some 180 grit sand paper and sand off the gear coating on that portion of the pinion. You will never have this problem again.

The gear set was already bad but I had a booger one time. A few taps with a hammer, no bueno. I pulled out big bertha and smacked it right on the threads, the pinion went flying across the shop....LoL
