Yet more 12 bolt questions Anybody know the size/pitch of the 12 bolt car pinion gear thread? It looks like 7/8 x 16 but I'm not 100% sure.
I was unable to find a new pinion nut locally and my old one seems to be so torn up from the shop staking it that I cannot get it threaded back on. It goes on about 1/2 a turn and then feels like it is cross threaded. I picked up another nut from a dealership here in Dallas (11 freakin bucks for a nut
) but I'm not sure that it is the right one. It also goes on about 1/2 a turn and then feels cross threaded. Is the nut supposed to be this hard to turn?
I'm hoping that the threads on the pinion gear are not trashed. I REALLY don't want to have to buy another set of gears. I cannot find a 7/8x16 die anywhere.
