Default Did i mess up my gears???

I went to the track to see what my car gots on 555r dr's about 3 to 4 weeks ago well i came out at 3000 rpms (drop tire preasure to 18 pounds with a to long of a burnout and when i came out i twisted and snap my driveshaft well i put a stock one back in it for temp. but now as i drove it home from work i notice a whine in the rear; than like clunking. When i pulled up to the driveway I saw a trail of rearend fluid and notice i was completely dry. I saw the bottom covered bend slighltly but enough to leak it all out. So i took off cover to change gasket and wanted to see if everything looked okay before I drop it off at a local shop.

My driveshaft 3 to 4 weeks ago

With the clunking sound and being out of fluid, I'd say you might want to either swap in a good used 10 bolt, or upgrade to a new 9 inch rear. Bob

Default Will my 10 Bolt hold up with sticky tires?

I hope you get your stuff fixed. But you could you please post these pics in the threads where folks ask, "Will my 10 bolt hold with sticky tires?" It is crazy to see what happens to the stock stuff when at the track.

I agree. My alternate option was taking the 10 bolt to Nogalitos Gear in SA and replacing all the guts and "beefed up" axles. The cost would have been about $1200 for a "beefed up" 10 bolt. There is no way that is a good idea. There was guy on here that went the cheap route and ended up stuck because he had beefed up 10 bolt stuff. Try and get a loan for a M9 or 12 bolt if you can. It is well worth it. I will even help you put it in Theblacknightls1.

Cool Thanks Camaro Junky.. The wrecker just picked it up and was going to lethal performance to find out whats up with it. I told them just to let me know before they do anything. Yeah i would love a 12 bolt or even a 9" But if they say its gone than thats what i might do.. Its crazy my friend has a stock 10 bolt in his 84 ta and has 410s with a 3500 stall and its a 391 stroker 3spd and he launches the hee out of it but dosnt break..Thats crazy must be luck lol

Probably because it's an auto and some luck. But looking at your mods, you defiantly have a weak link with that stock rear. Let us know what leathal says.

ive had 410s in my 10 bolt for 9 months. will an occasional pull or two in every tank of gas, which i fill up every week. Been to the track once with em and ran twice. dont be scared if you are a bolt on car. if it breaks, it breaks.. **** it
