Default 10 bolt leak...

...My 10 bolt is leaking towards the front of the car. There are drops of fluid on the torque arm bolts. It leaks maybe 1 drop per day. I immediately thought it was the pinion seal which needed to be replaced, so I had it replaced and it's still leaking. Any idea what else it could be and if it would be an easy fix? I'm eventually going to put in a 12 bolt, but I wasn't planning on doing it this soon. I was also thinking about just throwing in another 10 bolt if I can find one cheap rather than hunting down the leak (if it's going to cost me more money in the long run trying to figure out what's actually leaking). Thanks for the help.

Take it back to whoever did the seal. You may have a groove on the companion flange causing the leak, and a new seal won't fix that....but if you had it done at a shop they should have seen it. If that's what's happening, you'll need a new flange.

I had to have the pinion seal replaced under warranty twice on my 99 SS...the 1st time, the car only had 1200miles on it!

It is either a bad seal, wrong seal, bad yoke or bad bearings causing the seal to leak.

I have a 97 and replaced pinion seal twice and it still dripped..Went to dealer and talked to parts man & was told there was a upgraded yoke kit (yoke & seal) Installed new yoke & seal,,no more drips. Part # 12479332.
