Default How many have broken there 10 bolt with 4:10's

I am debating on going 4:10's in my 10 bolt. I go to the track maybe twice a year with street tires. I would like to spend the cash on a 12 bolt but I just did my cam swap.

Install with gears is about $600.

How many people have broke there 10 bolt with 410 gears on street tires?

My buddy just sheered two gears off his. His lasted for awhile with his A4 setup, but once he went M6, the rear end went within a month. The odd thing was, he broke it just putting around.

I have about 75,000 miles on my rear, about 3000 with the cam setup. 13 passes at the track with street tires. What gears was he running?

no way would i spend that kinda money on a 10 bolt. had 4.10s in mine and blew it out. that happened with street tires and a t/a cover. that doesnt happen as much i dont think, but id take that money and put towards a new rear. there are some good deals on used 12 bolts or similar rears.

even if you do get good life out of it, thats just a lot of money for a useless rear end

I've made about 10 passes on mine at the track, and countless launches on the street... I haven't broken mine just yet, but it's whining like a ****!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Anyways, it's just a matter of time. BEFORE jumping to 12 bolt or 9 inch look around on the forum about 8.8 conversions.

Mine has about 5K miles or more of ~415rwhp lots of launches on street tires, lots of hard shifts, burnouts, donuts, and LOTS and LOTS of gear whine. I just did a trip of about 200 miles round trip to get my windows tinted and I was pretty nervous but its still holding, but I have an 8.8 ready to go in when I gernade this piece of **** rear

Sounds like I should just save up. I dont plan on selling my car for a long time so I should just go with a 12 bolt. That way I can have fun at the track and launch it like a ****.

With the 3rd pedal I would go 9" over a 12 bolt. The 12 bolt is stronger than the stocker, but will still end up with some gear whine after a few good hard launches. At least that what I have read and thats what happened to my buddies car but he's making ~600 rwhp spraying

I have had 4:10s in my 10 bolt since I bought it. 34k-56k. Mine lasted. Mine was perfect until last Friday night at the track. I launched it at 4k on MT et radials. I KNEW I was going to break the rear end but I really did not care. We had a trailer there to take me home. My rear end didn't whine or anything. It was a perfect 10 bolt. With street tires you will be fine. If you plan on running a good number at the track, get a 12bolt or 9inch.

If I were you I would have went to the casino with that kind of luck

Not everyone is so lucky. Mine gears were setup right but after a few hard shifts I have gear whine like a ****, now its all you hear accelerating, decelerating, coasting, my rear end just whines. And spending $600 for just a gear install is crazy, save for another month or so and buy a new 9" or a used one for that matter. I felt stupid for spending $150 for the gears for the stocker, I wouldn't have spent any more than that. But thats just my .02

I am convinced to go with a 12 bolt now. I am looking at the strange S60, not sure about gears though. Maybe 410 or 430.

i had my 410s in my car for about 35K miles, and probably 150 track passes all on nittos and the last 15 on ET Streets. I knew it was going to go with the ET streets but i didnt even get gear wine with the 410s

Not on a 10 bolt, forget about upgradeing a 10 bolt the size of the gears is the issue, not saying it wouldnt help but a M6 car will destroy it for fun. Auto would have better luck. Wouldnt waste my money on a stock rear. IMO
