Default Trutrack gone bad

Ok, so last year I went out and bought a Moser 9inch with the trutrack posi thinking I'd be ok. After a visit to the track in may, the rear would make a clicking noise whenever I make a hard right turn. I decided to tear into the rear this past weekend and have the center section out of the car. Nothing looks broken. Is there any guide on how to take the trutrack posi apart? Should I just send it to Moser? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, if you bought it from Moser, call them and send it in for warranty. You get 12 months from date of purchase from the manufacture.

i bet the planetary (sp) are missing a couple pieces. the top four out of mine were missing chunks and the bottom four all had grooves worn around them.
you dont need a guide to take it apart. i had mine apart in 5 minutes. it easy.

Tru Craps are sealed units, not intended at all to be rebuildable. Also the the splines are uniquely cut so when I decide to do a spool these will be junk and at the same time I will be narrowing the rear. That will be fun.

Mine basically locked like a Spool so all I get is excessive then the average tire wear.

I haven't been out in the garage to attempt to tear into it, but basically you're saying that I need to buy a new trutrack or go out and buy new axles and a diff if I want to get away from the trutrack...that's great to hear

If the car is more street than track would look into Wavetrac option. they make them for think both 12 bolt and 9 inch and soon dana 60 as well. My dana 60 posi is very strong but wavetrac might be answer for you 9 inch and 12 bolt guys.Especially stick guys.

Mine dose, and still dose look fine inside. Its drove fine obn the street making no noise, I run it again in a street car with no slicks for sure.
I just bought a spool and put my ring gear on, new bearings in the spool in put it in. that was it.

Good luck with that, Moser didn't stand behind **** for me when my pinion bearing disintegrated while I was cruising on the highway about 3 months after I got the rear. Trashed the gears and got metal in the bearings. They didn't do anything at all.

I have one in my S60 and I'm swapping to a Detroit Locker, I also have an OBX racing LSD in my 2000 Z24 turbo Cavalier and I took it apart, deburred all the gears, cleaned it and replaced the weak stock preload washers with stronger ones and put it back together. I haven't had any problems with it but on a heavy high whp/wtq car on sticky tires I'd use a locker or spool. When I brought my S60 the info sheet indicated that the trutrac was good to 600 rwhp.

Well after a closer look, the drivers side axle does have twisted splines so the posi is still good. I'll have to call moser sometime next week and see what they'll do for me.

I doubt the clicking noise if from twisted axle splines. A lot of times when a Truetrac goes bad, it starts with making the clicking noise you described. Bob

would the posi still work though? Before I tore it apart it would lay down 2 nice big marks if I did a burnout.

What is your suggestion then? Should I replace the axle and see if the problem goes away? I'd hate to buy a new axle then find out its the posi, because I'd like to get away from 31 spline axles if I upgrade the posi unit. How long can the posi unit last like it is in the current state?

That tru trac is dead, look for a different unit. At the same time you do axles.
