Too many varibles. You need to clarify what Lower Gears mean. Like a SHORTER gear shift due to a Numerically Higher gear ratio (2.73 to a 4.10) or vice versa where you numerically lower your gear ratio.

Simple answer: Every car is different and with different drivelines, suspension, and tire combos you never know until you try it.

With a turbo, I wouldn't suggest going from 3:23 to 4:10.

Default Turbo Gearing?

From what I have seen of the turbo cars, most are running pretty low gears or should I say Tall gears. I have seen alot of guys running like 3.23 and taller. I think the reason for this is to keep the load on the motor so the turbo keeps building boost. Very critical to get your package set up, cam, stahl if running an automatic, and last but not least your gears. A shorter gear set up like 4.11's, when the motor comes on boost it can either propel the car or it will find the weakest link in your package [which is usually the tires] and you will blow through your gearing by smoking the **** out of your tires down the highway. Yeah, it looks cool but unless your Tanner Foust this is not the out-come you are looking for, lol at least most of the time.

Most of my driving is not in boost. Just wondering if I should leave the gears in the used 9" I will be picking up Saturday or change them.
