Default driveshaft a little short.. longer yoke ok?

bought a driveshaft.. didnt check fitment before i painted it. i called them to see what dims they wanted, gave them those dims.. they sent me a drive shaft.. its got quite a bit of the yoke sticking out.. can i run a longer yoke and be ok? the yoke they sent is 5.5" from center of u joint cap, to end of yoke.. they have one that is 8".. i can have my dad machine it down for me if it is to long.. i doubt they will take it back since i painted it.. and i think if it was longer, it will hit my link crossmember when truck is aired out..

so do you all think its safe to run a longer yoke? i mean they sell them, so id think its ok.. but i want other opinions..

Longer yoke is not a problem but get the whole thing balanced if you have to shorten it. Bob

yeah its a good idea to have it balanced, and its pretty cheap, just use a local place that does rear end work
