Default Dumb question I have.

I have a 9" with a spool. For some reason I can't figure out what actually keeps the axles from coming out? What holds them in? I feel retarded asking this question! ha But I'm putting it together in the morning and would like to know lol

Instead of making 2 threads, it basically goes like this correct?

Bolt in diff
Slide in axles
Bolt on the backing plates onto the housing(they are already on the axles and bearings and press ring have been pressed on)
Bolt everyone else together
Add oil.

For some reason I don't think it's that easy lol.

The backing plates you bolt on the housing ends hold the axle in place.

I was actually leaning towards that. It just confused me because of the c-clips in the 10 bolt keep the axle from coming out. Thanks

Now about that 9" assembling....

I don't think you've seen it this year. Been broke all summer. I'm right outside of St. Louis. I go on some car cruises every now and then.
