Default 4:11 or 4:56?

i have a 2000 6speed z28 with a moser 12bolt and 3:73. i want to run 4:11 or 4:56 no matter what i know that it wont make a very big differents maybe some tenths or my 1/4 mile time but its something i just want to do. this is also my DD im not to worried about MPG but i just dont wantto be running out of gears idealy want to be at the top of 4th at the 1320ft line in the quarter mile. should i go 4:11s or 4:56s? i do know that 4:11 at 70mph or 75mph is 2k which i can live with. feedback please thanks

with the 4.56s',based on a 26" tire and 5700 rpm,you be shifting into 5th to finish the 1/4 mile.

4.30s' with a 26" tires, you'd still probably be forced to shift to 5th,it would be close.

I have been thinking about upgrading also.... I dont know whether I want to go back with 4.10s (what I have now) or go up to 4.30s or 4.56s. Any of you guys with 4.30s or 4.56s have in car footage or videos of your cars to show more about the gear ratio changes?

I have 4.56s and love them they cruise just fine for me at 70 mph it is about 21 to 2200 rpm. I now run a 28 inch tall tire for track use but havent been yet. O and be ready to shift fast the next gear comes quick. The cartek trans am is one of the reason i went with that gear because that car is badass and want to do something simalar.

With 4.30 and 26" tire you can make it thru the traps in 4th. but if you can deal with DD a car with a 28" tire def. go with 4.56 awesome setup on M6 car.

Went from 4.10's to 4.56's and love the switch well worth it.

Gas mileage shouldn't be effected too much if you cruised around in 5th @ 2k you will now cruise 6th @ 2k and wont notice a difference.

I pulled 27 MPG on the highway with 4.56's and 26'' tire cruising 2500 RPMs the whole trip.

I run a 26" tall tire on the street with 4:30s and my car drives great. With a cam it gets 13-15 in town and 23-25 on the highway. 70mph in 6th gear I'm turning 1800-1900rpms. Not sure about running thru the traps though cause I run 28" ET Drags at the track. To be honest with you I wish I would've went with the 4:56s. You should think about getting some cheap rear wheels with 28" tires for the track and go with 4:56s!!!

Dude, your car is sex!!!! When I get my RT-Ss put on we will be almost twins... except I have 325 ET streets just waiting on my wheels.

I guess I'll be switching to 4.56s when I get my rear end together and in the car.

i had 410s and when my rear end went got talked into 456s in my new 9" and have since ridden in a friends car with 456s and im so glad that i went that route. Find yourself a 28" tire to keep the rpms down and work with the gears and never look back

So u guys have no problem running a 26in tire for the street with the 4.56s? I hate driving on my quicktime prosall the time and having them on all the time really limits where and when I can drive this car..

so 4:56 with a 28 inch tire seems like the best overall set up because i have a 26" tall tire now but all 4 are getting pretty worn down so il be switching over shortly. and traction issuses on the street with 4:56? because with my 26" and 3:73 from rolling around 10mph then floor it i will break the tires loose so i can only imagine it being worse with the lower gears?
