Default Opinions wanted: Taller gears on near stock car?

My daily driver is a A4 LS1 Camaro with a built tranny, 3200 Stall, and as of tomorrow, full exhaust. I have the option of swapping my stock 3.23 gears for a Strange 12 bolt and Detroit Locker 3.73 gears.

Would I see a noticeable gain in acceleration from the swap? Should I have any concerns other than increased fuel consumption on the highway. (The parts are free, help is cheap.)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have 3.73 gears with a 3500 stall. Very happy. Car feels lighter and is more responsive than before. But, I do not have the computer "thingy" to adjust the speedometer to the 3.73 gear ratio. So, my speedo reads 5 mph faster than it really is. I've gotten used to it. Just be aware that when you change gears the speedo will be affected unless you adjust it.

Damn my speedo is 20mph off, but i guess it depends on what gear the car came with originally

I think the mph difference is relative to how fast u are really going. For example, if your going around 20mph u could only be 5mph off but maybe at 60mph, you could be around 10-15mph off. Different tire sizes also cause this but to a less extent.
To the OP, yes, you will notice a difference. Im trynna save up for some 3.73s myself so i say go for it imo.

Well, we did the swap. Didn't get the exhaust, headers were too rusty. But I love the feel of the 3.73's. They hardly hurt my fuel economy and the car feels much stronger. The gears were originally set on the loose side for strip use, and the Locker is a bit noisy (clunks and whines). I'll have them readjusted soon. Also, I'll compare track results when I get them.

Thanks for the input guys.

BTW, my door code reads GU2, my drive shaft used to be steel (before the swap), and I was running 2200 rpms at 70mph in OD (stock tires). It doesn't fit; any ideas why?
