Default Will my 10bolt survive Track pass on Slicks.....

to do or not to do .. that is this question ..

i have a basically stock 01 z28 a4 , has - Long tubes - ORY - lid - FTRA -pp TB-3200stall

do you guys think the stock 10 bolt will survive 1 or 2 passes at the track ?
this is my daily and dont want to brake it .. it has traction issues and i figured trowing the hosiers quick times pro would help out ,, just dont wanna brake it ..

i knw these things are always on borrow time rear end is in perfect working condition and car has 120k .. but what do you guys think ?

wanna make it to the track tomorrow and see what she runs before i do any real mods to it ,

i knw auto are much easier on the rears then the 6spd but still wanna hear what you guys think .

i figure 2-3 passes on the stock and maybe 1-2 on the slicks ..

any info would be greatly apreciated !!

I don't think you'll hurt it if your not launching the bitch at 6600rmps LOL whatever you do start slow to get comfortable and if you have no wierd noises knocks grinds etc etc go ahead and put more power. Make sure you have a buddy come watch in his car just in case haha

Honestly, if this is your only transportation, why risk it? Autos are way easier on 10-bolts but, like you said, 10-bolts are living on borrowed time. I wouldn't do that if I were you, just my 2¢.

I've ran mine with slicks for several passes, and it's still holding up. However, you may go out there and break it on the first run, who knows. But, IMO you are always running a risk of breaking something when you go out to the track.

I've had my 10bolt on slicks or et-street radials since 02 hundreds of track passes but I have replaced the stock chunk with an Eaton Posi unit and a girdle cover. I run mid elevens with a 1.5-1.6 sixty every pass, havent broken any axles, but as I stated above its not a stock chunk.

well being a auto you can get away with it for awhile. But here is a good example that happend to my buddy last week at the track. Just rebuilt his 10bolt with a new posi, cover, and 4.10s. I know its a stick but this was his first pass on Nitto DRs. First pass of the night he lined up with me and this is what happend to him. Mild 350 that runs 12.90s

With an auto and your mods you'll be fine. There's auto guys running 10 bolts to low 11s with no problem

Had mine in the mid 11's plenty of times on a 1.6x or a 1.5x short time. Stock axles, Motive 3.73's and ( now ) a TrueTrac. I've killed 2 Torsens.

Plan on spraying it outta the hole Friday on a MT Radial. I have $ in my pocket for a tow truck if need be.

Mine has lasted 350+ passes so far... Your mileage may vary.

It's always a risk..but, since you have a lower stall I think you will be fine.

for a DD i wouldnt with slicks tbh, maybe if u semi easyed out of the hole then gave it all but then slicks be kinda pointless then : \ im currently with out a car cause my rear end just cracked the whole diff carrier by just normal day driving and a few WOT for fun but no launching or any burnouts, and i have a m6 in it not a4, but again u might be u might not be idk, kinda irrelevant but (had bad luck with rearends for me lol) had an 87 k5 with a crate 350 (only like 350hp/torque) and 33x12.50s with 4.56s and posi, i gave it 3/4 throttle about leaving a redlight and blew out the ring and pinion and broke drive side axle, about 3 months later after doing nothing it took 3 teeth of my ring gear from the shift kit it had is what are only guess was. but more or less, these rear ends suck i wouldn't put slicks on them

I ran slicks with my 10-bolt a couple times, you will be fine. Just for future reference an auto will like a DR much more than a slick especially at your power level. I consistently picked up a full tenth in my 60' going from a slick to a DR with a car that makes around 400rwhp. If you were a manual it would be the complete opposite, slicks>DR's and a good chance the 10-bolt would go.

Time in sig - 3.73s (weaker/thinner gears than stock) inside a stock 10 bolt. Put pressure on the converter and it will pressurize everything behind it. The gears will never slap each other and should live for quite a long time. Launch with a high stall (4000+) off of idle, and the story becomes more time bomb than safe. I launch from around 1200-1400 RPM.
