Default Help with carrier please!!!

Ok I am working on a 1998 V6 camaro with 3.08 and open diff. The carrier pictured on the left is the original. The one on the right I got from a local
f-body junk yard. The differences I can tell between the two are the one on the left being the original are the gear that the ring gear bolts up to that is part of the carrier is more narrow than the replacement i was given pictured on the right. Also on the original the carrier bearings are pressed on passed the point of being flush while the replacement carrier has the bearing pressed flushed. I need to figure out what exactly the original carrier is? I was under the impression that for the 7.652 rear end GM only made a series 2 carrier and a series 3 carrier am I correct?

bearings are to pressed on till there's no gap under the bearing. difficult to tell because of the fuzzy pics.
carriers for V6 came both 2 & 3 series. the one on the left is 2 series for a 3.08 ring gear, the one on the right is a 3 series as some V6s' were optioned with a 3.42 gearset. your 3.08 gearset is not usable with a 3 series carrier, you have to get a 2 series carrier.
