Question 3.8L Camaro Open to LSD Conversion?

With an LSD Carrier, what else is Needed for conversion from an open rear-end? The ABS reluctor ring, but what is needed for ASR, anything else I would not already have stock?

Is this a good kit for this process? Assume no gear change, it's already 3.42 gears.

Anyone do this conversion and can comment on the difficulties and lessons learned? Any write-ups?

Any tips on what to look for with an LSD carrier to ensure it is not trashed?

you dont need the reluctor ring or anything else dealing with ABS. it has nothing to do with an open or LSD. switch the carrier and your done.

OEM 3.42s would require a 3 series LSD.

which 'LSD' are you going for,Auburn,Torsen,Eaton,or ? ?

^ Thanks for the article link. Yes I know it requires a series 3 -- as to which one, I had no real preference -- which did the Z28s and SSs come with standard? I had hoped to go with a used one.

98+earlier were Auburn,99+later were Torsen.

to the above poster. it is not a simple drop in unit. you will need to purchase a shim kit and gear paint. your going to need to set up side lash, and shim it correctly so you dont take off and break it. there are some write ups. if you have never done this then just get all of the parts and take to get installed. it can be a pain in the *** and it only takes one measurement to be off to mess it up.
