Default How long to swap in a moser 9"

I just bought a 95 TA drag roller and about the start swapping over the suspension to my 98 Z28.

The 95 has a built moser 9" with an ADJ TQ Arm and I will be taking it out and putting in my car.

The brakes and brackets are still intact on the 95.

I will also be adding Madman LCAs, wolfe single anti-roll, AFCO shocks on all 4 corners, Madman panhard bar, AFCO lower shock brackets.

Any ideas on how long it will take to intall the moser 9" and all new madman suspension parts? 1-2 days?

Should I have to take off my 98 brakes and swap them onto the moser 9" with the current 95 TA brake setup?

Cool deal. I wanted to have it done by the 20th, and all the parts should be here by this friday, so sounds like I should be able to get it done over the coming up weekend.

Just got everything ordered from Steve at Madman's and he was very helpful!

Look forward to leaving on a 150 shot!

Took me about 12 hours. That was putting the rear end together, running to stores to get nuts and bolts, modifying exhaust, and to Rally's to get food.

Thank you Steve! Appreciate you taking time to help plan out my suspension.

I'm taking the moser 9" out of the drag roller I bought tomorrow and check everything out while I'm waiting on the parts to come in.

Just have to figure out if the brakes that are on the moser 9" in the 95 will swap over, or if I will have to swap out the 98 LS1 brakes and backing plates.

The best 60' I had with the stock suspension and 10-bolt on 275/60 was 1.65, so with the anti-roll and all new suspension should really improve on motor and especially on spray..

It runs 7.50's in the 1/8 now, and after the new parts and a 150 shot I think that it would go a 6.40 or so.

Thanks Bob! I am going to look over this a few times before I start in on the project.

I just bought a D1SC kit, so I will be getting w/ you this winter for a few parts to finish it up after I take off the nitrous.

Took **** me and a buddy 15 mins to remove my old 9 inch and install the MWC rear in about 6 hours if I remember maybe 7, did a bunch of cutting in the inner fenders and stuff and the drag brakes took a little while, Otherwise would take 4 hours. DO WORK.

Yeah I don't think it will be bad at all.

Looks like the Lt1 brakes are going to fit just fine size wise. When I get it out, I will see if the parking brake cables and brake fittings are the same.

Thinking about ordering a 4.30 gear for the rear since I have 28" tall tires. Just need to make sure this would be a good nitrous gear (150-175 shot). I run mainly 1/8 but 1/4 also.

O and I did this on a lift also that helps. I assume there will be a auto in the car, But if you are going to rev this motor up high it mite be a good gear, May want to step down to 4.10. Whats the set up going to be.

Right now on motor, 28" tires, and 3.73 10bolt its shifting into D at about 600' out pulling up to about 5k in the 1/4 if I remember correctly.

I think 4.30 will be too much gear on spray. The 3.90 with a 28" tire looks a lot better. This was it won't be shifting into OD in the 1/4, and should MPH real good on a small shot in 3rd right up to peak power.

So far, I think this will be an easy swap.

Got the moser 9" out of the drag donor in about 45 min with a buddy helping.

I found out it have a competition engineering "short" tunnel mount TQ arm so my y-pipe will have to be modified.

With all the new adjustable suspension, it should be fairly straight forward on centering everything using the panhard and LCA, and pinion angle with the TQ arm.

I'm sure going back in will be more difficult. I thought about putting the LCAs on the 9" and jacking it up to put them in first. I was thinking that will help line it up when putting into the car.

So once its all in, I just need to swap gears, change fluids, get a drive shaft made, and modify the exhaust. Then it should be ready to test.

I'm really impressed with the AFCO shocks.

I wouldn't pull the stock rear, until everything else was ready.Otherwise you end up with a dead horse.

I don't know what your plans are, but I can get you a custom built drive shaft made from of aluminum, mild steel or chromolly. Aluminum would be the best option, in most cases. Just give me a shout on Monday (or whenever you're ready for it), and I can get you all set up.
