trouble installing new 9"
I just bought a 9" and I am having problems installing it into the car. The pinion is rotating too high up towards the bottom of the car. The questions I have are:
what order is it best reassembeled?
is the u-joint pressed in on the drive shaft?
should the springs be compressed before install?
I didn't have this much trouble taking out the 10 bolt.

put the tq arm on before you put it up in , have the 9" on the jack and raise it up and put the tq arm into the mount . Then you should be able to put the shocks on or the brake line and then it will be supported buy the shock . Also if not using lowering spring you will have to put the springs ontop and then put the shocks on .

As I recall it isn't that much force, is it. I remember being able to
just grab the tq arm and it rotates towards the ground easily. But in any case use a prybar if you have to to rotate it and install the tq arm. But in anycase I always did it with the tq arm
hooked up. Driveshaft will be last.

rearend on jackstands first, torque arm in place. leave the springs out. hook up the lca's first, then the front torque arm mount. hold the springs in place then jack the rearend up into the car, then bolt the shocks in last. hook up the driveshaft and set the pinion angle, tighten all fasteners. somewhere in ther you have to do the brake lines, some do it first, some last.

I took my grinder and cut the bearings and lock rings in half in order to remove them. I had the new ones pressed on after my backing plates where on. Everything went together good. The only problems I ran into was the shock mount holes and the panhard bar hole had to be drilled out to 5/8". The mount for the panhar bar is too narrow. I am going to try and open it up by using a pipe wrench.

i finally got it all installed. I had to take a grinder to the panhard bar bushing to get it to fit. Bracket is too narrow. I just did two heat cycles. One more than I will put miles on it. No leaks so far.
