3.73 gear choices

3.73 gear choices
I know this topic has been killed, but i have yet to see a fair concensus on it.
Losing my carrier bearing in my rear, so i figure i might as well change the gears while im in there. Going with 3.73 to keep it as a good daily with a little extra kick, 4.10 would be too much around here imo.
I've been reading about noise problems with Richmond and Moser, though its mostly the way the gears are set. The GM seem to have a pretty good word out for themselves, and i found a bnib set for $160 shipped.
The Richmonds are a harder gear with the higher nickel content, and ive read similiar about the Mosers. The GM is slightly softer? which also helps keep them a bit quieter from what ive seen.
The car is not really going to be raced, some spirited runs here and there, but nothing hardcore, possibly an occasional track run.
Are there any issues with these gears that i should be aware of? Whats reccomended by everybody?
MODS.. Hooker LTs, ORY, LM2, SLP lid, ram air tray, LS6 intake going in soon. Staying with this setup for quite some time.
Thanks in advance for any info.
EDIT. Forgot to add, its a 2000 Z28 M6.

I had 2.73 suck *** gears in my auto.. Bought richmond 3.73s, sent them back after reading countless gear whine issues, and went with highly reccomended motives (ws6 store). couldn't be happier... Since your an m6 you should think about 4.10s to get the most outta your car

I have installed about a dozen sets of Motives and all have been silent. The one set of Summit brand I did were somewhat noisy, I think they are re-branded Richmonds.

My m6 has motives housed in a 9" and I can't hear anything back there..
Maybe that is because my exhaust is dumped and I still have a hole where my shifter pokes through though...
As for 4.10's I think if I were to choose again I'd of step back to the 3.7x to 3.9x range for a daily. The 4's are fun but riding in 5th at a little over 2k rpm just to hover between 55 and 60 for most of my commute is a bit excessive in my eyes.

Make sure you take them to someone who will take the time to set them up right. . I have Motives in mine and they whined a little after a couple hard launches. I called the guy and asked about it and he said he set them up at .004 because they would "give" a little. I think he just didn't want to take it back apart and install it again. I moved 2.5 hrs away and it's not worth it to take a day off and get him to redo it.

American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) makes the gears and rear axle housing for GM. I put AAM 4.10s in my 10 bolt and they are silent so far. It's hard to go wrong with OEM parts. I was disappointed that they were made in Mexico considering AAM has a factory here in Chicago. JawsGear sells AAM.
