Default richmond or motive gear?

looking for a new gear set for my moser 12 bolt. mine was chewed up from a posi failure. I used to have a 4.10 not sure what brand came with moser. whats the best brand for serious abuse? I cannot go with a pro gear because this car is driven to car shows and cruise nights on occasion. is one brand any better than the other?

AAM gears for the 12B are no more.lol Everytime I see a nice resto come into the shop with a 12 bolt under it anxiety is high. We have tryed all brands of gears available for the 12B, depth is a bitch. AAM gears for the Chevys(unless unavailable), ford gears for the fords, and dana gears for the JCD vehicles. Perfect 9/10 times. Cheap gear = noise in a daily driver. Racecar who gives a .....

Motive's will be quieter than richmond's, I've had both. Perfect setup on both gears and the richmond gear is still pretty noisy between 60-70mph. They're one of the strongest gears you can buy though.

I only care about strength. my car is as loud as open headers with the mufflers on it. I prolly cant hear the gear whine anyway. lol.

I ordered a richmond. hopefully this one doesnt break. what kind of HP levels are the street gears good for? or 60fts are they good for? in the next few years the car may make 700hp and 60ft 1.30's. hope thats not too much to ask for a street gear.

Yukon will be the quietest gear you can put in it.

Set em up with a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve and they'll handle it fine. I make a hair under 700rwhp with a 3890lb race weight and launch at 6800rpm off the 2 step. My richmonds have 2 seasons of that abuse on them and are still going strong.

awsome. ordering one right now! should be a direct fit for a moser 12 bolt right? I assume there 12 bolts are the same as any 70's muscle car with a factory 12 bolt right?

Looking for advice. I want to switch to smth. like 3.08 gears in my Moser 12-bolt. We don't have traction on our tracks so I care more about noise than strength.
Is Motive gear OK lately? It's only $160 at summit

Definitely go with Yukon. I've ran both Motives, and Richmonds, and my next set will be Yukons because these Richmonds are way too loud. Yukons seem to have the highest ratio of quiet to noisy setups.

Stick with Motive "blue box" stock replacements and you'll be fine. Every set I've done has been really silent, every set of "orange box" have had whine.

Get on Google Shopping and search the Yukon part numbers. You can find them for about 160-180

Honestly, in my experience in school and in the field, as long as you get a reputable brand name product, gear selection doesn't make any difference. No gear set "whines more than the other", it's all about setup. As long as you set up the rear end properly, you will have no issues.

Whine usually comes from improper set-up.

I have richmonds and do not notice any noise.

the AAM is the OEM branded gear and super expensive!

Tooth cut does effect rear end noise/longevity. And that's a fact.
