Default 10 bolt Posi Failing?

What are the symptoms of a failing posi in a 10 bolt? I tried to do a doughnut and the car just did a wide circle. My brother got out, and said that only one wheel was spinning. WTF?

Can I just replace the posi? I don't have the cash for a 9", so I'll either fix this 10 bolt of pick up a junkyard rear.
What year f-body's have interchangeable rear ends?

95 lt1 Camaro, stock 10 bolt with 4.10 gears.

That would be a toast posi, mine did the same this fall. Next up is a MWC fab 9" because I refuse to put any money towards a/the 10 bolt. I don't know if the LT1 rears are any different than the LS1 rears. Just have to make sure you get the right one, 3 channel or 4. Unless you don't care about losing ABS/TCS if you have it.

And yes, you can just replace the posi.

Put it in a straight line and see if both tires spin before you decide to replace it....sometimes being in a turn will keep it from locking in.

Which rears are 3 or 4 channels? Other than that, can I just swap any year 10 bolt for mine?

Where can I get a replacement posi?

3 or 4 channel refers to whether you have traction control or not. t/c= 4 channel.
no t/c = 3 channel. most of the vendors on here sell replacement differentials. i have used
eatons pretty regularly. you will need the differential and bearings.

Would it be a good idea to get a new set of gears as well? I didn't realize these replacement diff's were so expensive. I might just have to deal with it until the 9" funds come in.

Try to find a used Torsen out of an LS1 car. You can find them on here.

Yes i would agree also, try doing a straightline burnout, and possibly change the fluid and additive sometimes will help that issue

Troy5061, Do you have any issues getting your car inspected in Maine with the ORY on it. I am originally from eastern Maine but stationed in Virginia for years now in the military. I was thinking about switching my registrations back over to Maine because Virginia is kind of strict with inspections. I have to pay someone under the table to inspect mine.
