Default Moser M9 LT1 car to LS1 car swap ?s .....Rear end experts please help *UPDATED*

My 94 M6 has a moser M9 in it from the previous owner. The car is mint. I want the moser M9 swapped into my 00 SS M6, and then to take that 10 bolt and out it in the 94 to make ir factory. Here's all the info I know in both cars.

94 lt1 z28
T56
No traction control
No emergency brake
Aftermarket Moser M9 with 3.73 gears
Aftermarket torque arm
Wilwood rear brakes

00 ls1 SS
T56
traction control
Abs
emergency brake
Factory 10 bolt
3.42 gears
*has tsp true duals with dumps before axle. Will this pose a problem with the torque arm?*

Basically can the swap be done into both cars? Will the torque arms swap too? Do I swap axles and brakes and all? I don't have spare lt1 or ls1 rearend parts/axles. And I heard you need to use lt1 brakes and axles on the lt1 car swapped into the ls1 housing. I don't have these parts since it was an aftermarket unit. Willall the ls1 parts (10 bolt, ls1 axles, ls1 backing plate, ls1 brakes) work in the lt1 car if I swapped over every part?

I know abs and TC will not work in the SS after the swap because the m9 doesn't have it. Can I buy parts from moser to eventually get them working? Any info will help. Thanks. Let me know if I need to clarify....its a lot to explain

Is this a Moser 9 inch or a Moser M9?

Moser 9 inch

Moser M9

You'll want to take the brake backing plates off your 2000 SS and install them on the Moser axles if you want to use the brakes that are on your SS.

To retain your ABS/TCS you'll need to pull the axles out of the Moser rear and have them machined for the retainer rings.

The instructions here may help you out. Bob

Thanks for the quick reply
It's a m9.

So your pretty sure it can be swapped from a lt1 car to an ls1 car without much hassle? I don't mind swapping the brakes. And I don't have to have tc or abs right now. Getting the m9 out of the lt1 car and just working the ls1 car is my MAIN concern. Good to know I can add those back later if I decide to. Thanks. Will the tsp true duals interfere with that torque arm?

Good deal! You will need the 98-02 T-56 Moser crossmember 730205 for the torque arm, I sell them. The LT1 crossmember uses a different part number.

My '99 Camaro got the very first Moser M9 ever made for an F Body, we used the TSP duals on my Camaro. We had to did a little modifying to make the duals work, but it wasn't anything that involved. Here's a video of my Camaro. Bob http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB7YF..._order&list=UL

Bob, can you PM me a price quote for that crossmember + shipping to 36695?
Is there anyway I can tell if the m9 has wavetrac?
Will I be able to install the factory ls1 crossmember/ torque arm on the the lt1 car without modifications?

The moser M9 has wilwood brakes. I want to use them on that ls1 car. Possible? Can I use the ls1 rotors with the wilwood calipers? These questions might be better in the brake section.

Here is the transmission crossmember, the price includes shipping.

The only way to tell if the rear has a Wavetrac differential is to pull the center section. You have to pull the axles out several inches, and unbolt the center section, it will come out after that. I have a picture of what the Wavetrac looks like at this link. http://shop.brutespeed.com/Brute-Spe...nformation.htm

The factory torque arm should fit between the LT1 and LS1 chassis.

You can use the LS1 rotors, the parking brake if it has one may require some modifications. You'll just have to watch what wheels you use, a lot of people use LT1 rotors so they can use 15" wheels for drag racing, and stock LT1 wheels may not fit with the LS1 rotors. Thanks. Bob

Thanks, I appreciate the order. I'm don't think the LS1 crossmember bolt holes will align in the '94. I'd try using it and see what you run into. Bob

Depends on what torque arm you are wanting to use on the LT car.

The 93-97 and the 98-02 cars definitely have different trans crossmember bolt hole locations(on the driver side). The LS car will need the M9 specific crossmember for that swap, and depending on what torque arm you are wanting to use on the LT car will determine what crossmember to get. You could use the M9 crossmember and mount a stock torque arm with a factory trans mounted bracket for that matter.

Thanks, that's what we are doing although the moser crossmember has to be cut a little to work with a stock lt1 torque arm.

Got new stickers from moser. It wasnt the brakes leaking, it was the bearing seals. Thanks Bob and everyone else. The rear end is in and working great.

Glad you got it in and working, so how did it fit with the true duals?

No it did not fit with the true duals. I took the mufflers off, but wrecked the car shortly after. The M9 is now for sale.

Default I believe you have my old car.

I believe you have my old red 94 z28. I'm just saying that because I had just install a Moser M9 right before selling it to my brother in law. Looks like the brakr lines i fabbed and yhe blocks i fabbed to hold them. He didn't keep it long. Where did you get it from?
