Default Tired of the noise, any advice?

I've got a 98 T/A. Put in a 12 bolt Moser complete rear with eaton posi. 3.42 33 spline. It's 7 years old.
I know for a fact the guy who installed it beat on the car right away cause he admitted it to me. I NEVER have done high rpm runs or any racing but the thing is loud and I have to change the fluid with new posi additive every 1,000 miles cause the clutches moan so much you can hear it a mile away!
I'm looking to keep the same ratio but get a quieter diff. This car is just a Sunday driver and I want the only noise to be the Magnaflow.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks a lot.

It sounds to me like you need to change out the ring and pinion. A new ring and pinion need to be properly broken in, and if the guy beat on it right away, that has to be the problem. I sell the 12 bolt gears and install kits at the link here. http://shop.brutespeed.com/12-Bolt-Parts_c253.htm Bob

Thanks Bob.
Are you saying that the ring and pinion can also contribute to the growling I get after about 1000 miles while turning? I mean I still get that steady wine which is what I thought was the pinion.
If this is just a case of swapping out some parts I have no rpoblem with that.
Also if I remember correctly the first kind of oil he put in was 75 125 synthetic. Could that be a factor also?
Thx

Yes I would say the ring and pinion contribute to the noise you are hearing. proper break in is mandatory if you want a quiet set of gears. Heat cycling the gears by jacking up the back end and running the car in gear at idle, then letting the gears cool down, is important. Doing this procedure four or five times, then taking it easy on the gears for 500 miles is important.
Moser does not recommend synthetic gear oil. Bob

I have the annoying whine as well, but mine only has around 6-7k miles on it. I'm pretty sure the original owner didn't break it in properly either. Thanks for the info Bob.

I don't recall Moser stamping any numbers on the axle tubes, you'll most likely have to pull the cover. Bob

Great info, thank you Bob. I didn't know about the heat cycling. I am a toolmaker working with all kinds of tool steel so this makes sense. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
