Default What should I check for when buying a used eaton posi?

I am looking to buy a used eaton posi for my 12 bolt. Guy doesn't know mileage on it and I'm not familiar with how they are designed. Can anyone tell me what to look for or how to test it to be sure it works before I buy? Thanks

difficult to tell from outside just by looking at it.
look inside thru the large ports to see if plates are bare(friction material totally wore away).
best way is to pull the plates for examination.
