How to tell if Camaro has different gears?
So I am looking to buy a 2002 Camaro SS from my local dealer. It looks 100% stock except the rear diff cover has been changed. I want to know of the gears have been changed. The dealer told me no but I'm not sure I trust them.

I would say you have two options. During the test drive see what RPM corresponds to a certain speed say 60 mph. These are several post here which list RPM for the various gear ratios. Not the most scientific since other factors can come into play such as tire size.
Second option is to have them pull the cover and either read the marking on the ring gear or count the teeth and do the math.

jack the rear of the car up.
mark one of the rear tires for reference @ 12 oclock.
mark the driveshaft so its easy to see.
spin the rear tire & count the revalutions of the driveshaft per one spin of the rear tire.
one spin of the tire & lets say the drive shaft goes almost 3 1/2 turns would equal 3.42 gears & so on.
