Question 4th gen diffs?

Do 4th gens. have an auburn style lsd? Are they rebuildable or just through away because of the cone?. Also i have a chance to buy a complete rear end unit very freshly rebult with 3:73's for $300. The guy says he can see springs with the diff cover off...Does that mean it isnt an auburn and is some aftermarket brand?

4th gens came with Auburn cone style with 5 springs in diff and cones, non rebuildable, or Torsen diff with worm gears also non rebuildable I believe. If the rear is out of the car you can remove the c-clips and check out the axle bearings and axles. I bought a rear and didn't check the axles, when I took it apart there was a slight dent from a roller of the axle bearing on the axle from somebody dropping the rear end to the ground on the axle flange.
Here's a link to a thread on how to check the posi unit for servicability per the service manual.
