Default Question about 9 inch third member adjustment

I have a used 31 spline Ford 9" third member. I ran it for a year and the only complaint I have is it has a clunk when you engage the clutch. A bit of slop in it. There is no bearing noise so I am wondering if I can have the slop adjusted out and not need to have anything else done to it? Thanks

All depends on where the play is. You can not change the ring and pinion engagement without causing problems. You may be able to get play out of the LS unit, no way to tell until it's apart. http://www.kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm
will help you see what you're into.
