I let mine run on jack stands for 10 minutes and let them cool. Then drove it for 15 miles or so and let them cool down again, Then just drove about 500 miles driving it easy and then I would say your good to go.

i always heard 10 mile normal driving..30 minute cool down, 10 mile drive..30 minute cool down, 10 mile drive..30 minute cool down and that's it, i heard you don't wanna take it on a really long drive when they're new cuz it could soften the teeth

The reason i ask is because i blew my gears up this past weekend. I know that since the gears were installed it always had a whine but 8k miles later under no load coaasting down a hill not in gear i heard like a bang flop flop flop pulled over and the diff cover had a hole in it in the upper left hand coner. I was wondering did i do something wrong with break in?

same problem happened to me. Ironically about 8k miles later after 4.10s my worm gear bolt sheared off and went through the cover. Good luck but I don't think it has anything to do with the gears. Did you have a higher numerical ratio installed?

IM not sure if speeding up the carrier puts more stress on it or not but I had the exact same thing happen.
