Default 9" + Locker = Fluid Type & How Much?

Am I just supposed to use regular gear lube in the locker? It says something about that with the 9" directions BUT it doesn't mention posi type.

Is that 75W-90??

Anyone know about how much a 9" rear with a locker takes in the way of lube? And how do you know when to stop (like the finger in the fill hole on the 10 bolt)

9" with locker?

I put fluid in until it starts to drip out the fill hole.

I run 85/140 with my 31 spline + locker.

Do you have the drain/fill holes? It seems like that will fill up the whole darn thing with oil since the hole is very high up? I've got 35 spline & locker... wondering what the difference in 75/90 is vs. 85/140

I haven't found what Moser recommends yet.

I use the fill hole on the side of my housing, it's halfway up the housing.

I just run the thickest stuff possible because I want it to handle heat and not break down as fast.

I drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom of the housing and put in a pipe plug to make draining it easy.

Mine came with a real nice opening at the top of the pumpkin to fill through. Has a cap that screws on. Just take the plug out of the side and fill though the top until it runs out. Has a slick drain opening at the bottom of the housing too. These are options that are available from Moser when you buy the rear. Not expensive either. Moser recommends non synthetic oil for break in. I used 80w/90w in mine, with a locker, 35 spline axles, and 4.57 gears.

Default 3.73 gears with detroit lockers

Hi guys I have a similar question. I have a truck that has 3.73 gears and Detroit lockers in it. What gear lube should I use in my axles?
