assuming traction, it has no other choice other than to accelerate faster.

Probably the single biggest difference maker you can install on a bolt-on car... you can definitely feel that mod!

yeah the final drive gear 2.73->3.23->3.42->3.73->4.10 will each lay down successively more torque given the rest being the same. torque moves ya

but you will not wanna go buck wild to the point that you can't launch due to too much torque, or end up with a 125mph top speed lol.

The car will definitely "feel" faster with a lower gear and to a point it will BE faster too (at least as far as 1/4-mile is concerned). IMO, you should setup your gearing such that you're crossing the traps at just under your redline in 4th gear. Of course, I'm far from an expert drag racer so, take it with a grain of salt...

I have 4.10's in my Moser 12 bolt. My car is only bolt ons. I powershift @5700 and go threw the traps right about the same rpm @107.42mph. Perfect setup. 4.10's will definetly make it quicker

definitly puts your head in the back of your seat......you better get some LCA and a PHB, TQ ARM and some good tires......but dont be to hard on them! 4:10 gears themselfs are pretty weak and will break if you thrash them to hard to often!

I gained 2-3 tenths going to 4.10's. In a M6 you will be well into 4th gear at the the end of the 1/4 mile.

I have a simular question. I have a 00' Z28 M6 with TR 224, ORY, SLP Loudmouth, no cats, Whisper lid, and edit tuning. Free mods as well. It has stock rear gears and pulls way harder than my truck. If i punch it from a roll it pulls hard, but then at @ 3500rpms the rear breaks loose. I guess thats when the cam starts making real power.

Anyway, right now i get @26mpg on the highway. How much would it drop with 4.10s?
Best 1/4 with it was 12.1@110, so with gears and consistant 11s will i need a cage?

Thanks, Smitty

On a roadtrip a few days ago I got 29 mpg with 4.10's. Of course, I don't have a cam (yet), but I wouldn't think you'd see much change from 26.

wow! are you serious? 29mpg with 4.10s. Ive only driven the car around town, and once 40 miles on the highway, so maybe i could get better. If i can still get at least 25mpg with 4.10s ill swap.

Thanks for the info!
