Default Strange thumping noise while in gear, not neutral.. need help

the vehicle is a 00 WS6 with a t-56. after market mods include a PST carbon fiber drive shaft and a moser 12-bolt

The issue I am having started today. I went to switch gears and when i went into 3rd I got a loud thumping. It was almost like the tire got a huge nail in it. As i went faster it got louder and quicker and vise versa. The strange part is when I push the clutch in or take it out of gear, the noise stops. I jacked up the car and ran it, and found the noise to be coming from the drive shaft (or so it sounded like). I disconnected the drive shaft and ran my car though the gears, no noise. I spun the rear wheels manualy, no noise. I even drained the rear gears and found clean oil. I inspected the drive shaft and found normal minor wear. I'll admit i'm not an expert, but i am pretty stumped here.. any thoughts?

Ps no nail,

maybe the yoke on the driveshaft got messed up or the bearing caps or something.. did you inspect the inside of the tail housing with the driveshaft out to see if anything was abnormal looking?

just checked, everything seems fine on the yoke, that i can tell. ive asked a few ppl around what they think it is, and alot have said yoke. i just picked up a stock drive shaft from a junk yard and am going to throw that in and see if that makes a diffrence.

A long shot, but pull the diff cover off. I had broken a couple teeth off my Moser 12 bolt, but it still drove. It had a bit of a thump sound on every rotation. I knew something was off so I never hammered it. Only heard it under load in gear.

Honestly, gears are one thing I will not do myself. I would see who locally is any good. It is not cheap though. That is why I sold mine and bought a MWC 9".

The guy who did mine said he had never seen a car keep going after spitting out a couple teeth, but I drove mine around 150 miles, to get home from the track and then to his place.

Good luck, glad you at least found the problem.
