So I've been throwing around all ideas with my rear that is blown up. I would like a 12 bolt the best, but to get 4.11's, a 4channel, and anything but a spool would be way over $2000.

I figure if I just got a new diff and gears for this 10 bolt again it would be around $600. So I sorta want to just do that for now until next year for a actual rear.

But, another option I hear people speaking of is just taking the rear and fitting it for our cars out of a mustang? Like a ford 8.8, it seems people have done this with good luck and only cost around $1000, which is a price range I would be willing be in. I rarely go to the track, maybe once a month in summer, and when I do it's usually on street tires, or not killing it on drag radials so I kinda hate spending so much on something I would not be using to full potential. I'm a 400rwhp m6 with 4.10s. So I would like something that would cost me $1000 and just be done with it and suit my needs for now. Any thoughts? I am interested on the 8.8 idea that people mention though.

Thought of that but don't want a spool since I'm mainly a street driven car. Had a spool before, hated it for street lol

I'm in your same boat. I've come to realize that it's better to do it right once than twice. 4 12 hour overtime days and a fifth 8 hour day and hopefully I'll be close by the end next month haha...

contact some of the DIY 8.8 guys on here .maybe you can get a housing from them for a good price and finish it your shelf.look in the used parts section for a bolt in HD rear,I have seen some good deals there.I have seen very old and used 9" housing and gears for under $500,if you are DIY or have good friends it can be done for under $1500.

There is a 12 bolt for 1300 on here now but you would have to trade your rear. Honestly I wouldn't waste your money and time on a 10 or 12 bolt. Similar money for something that won't whine...

I think what I am going to do for now is just rebuild this. Since not much damage was done and I can rebuild it really cheap (under $200 total). I may or may not add a girdle and axle tube brace since I can always easily sell those parts whenever I decide to switch to a different rear anyways.

I figure in winter when I have time and money I can put together a good rear for myself and then either sell my current working 10 bolt, or if it's blown up again I'll just sell the parts off it anyways.

I picked my 8.8 up for free with 3:73 and truetrac. I had my 10 bolt already the only expense I'm going to have with mine is the Pete z bars, bearings, and possibly some welding. I'm reusing the stock axles into the 28 spline carrier.

I wish I found that. Main thing is finding a rear with gears & diff cheap. The rest I'm not to worried about.
