Default Broken axle stock rear?

Ok, so first thing, this is my daily driver, everything is pretty much stock on the car.
I was driving when I began to hear my rear end squeal as if my brake pads were low, about 1/4 mile more it got worse! I pulled over and there were metal shavings around my rim. The brake caliper bracket made contact with my brake rotor and was scraping/scratching it. I had the car towed home and I began to disassemble to see wtf is wrong. I unbolted the caliper and I was then able to pull out my axle as a whole! I was like aww damn this cant be good. I have attached a picture of the axle and where it looks like something broke? Can anyone confirm what the hell happened?

the c-clip slot broke. if it's the 99 Z28,it would have a Torsen differential and the broken pieces are in the rearend.

That axle shaft is done. The part that is broken is where your C-clip should be resting and holding the axle shaft from moving outward.
