So i am new to the forum, but i wanna put some XXR526 wheels on my car which will require me to narrow my rear end. I am thinking i will get my hands on a used 9" and weld on the spring perchs and what not. I have good fabrication skills, has anyone posted a thread about this that i would follow? any help would be greatly apprieciated

I don't know about a how-to but I am putting together a 9inch using a housing that was built out of a factory 9inch with 10 bolts perches. It can be done, the issue is building the torque arm bracket. I bought mine in a fire sale so I don't know who built it or anything about how he came up with the measurements.

A guy did it in this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...red-8-8-a.html

Seemed like he did a very good job and paid great attention to detail, but in the end he couldnt get it to work right and ended up putting a 10 bolt back in it...made me kinda glad I just bought a moser instead of going through all the trouble lol.

I know, I talked with some local chassis fab guys that told me for the labor involved it would be just as cheap to get one already made. The only reason I got mine was because it was dirt cheap and when I tell you dirt cheap I mean DIRT F'n cheap. If your looking for just the housing Bob @ Brute speed can get you a Moser housing for a good deal. Eric @ Midwest has a housing that comes with a custom torque arm and axles for like 1700 I believe. I can tell you where to get a good deal on another bolt in housing if you PM me because it's a non-sponsor.
