Default Are 4th gen camaro LS1 and Lt1 torsen's interchangeable?

Hey there guys, I'm really confused on what torsen I need to get.
I've got a 1993 camaro with a broken torsen and I'm wondering if I could use one from a LS1 car.
I'm told my camaro has 3.23 ratio and I've been told I need to worry about the diff being 2 series or 3 series (whatever series2/3 means, maby someone can explain?).

I've had my eye on this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-02-Camaro...-/310417331063
Would it work or do I need to find one from a lt1 car?

the parts in the ads' pic don't seem right, the part in the upper left is ?,maybe an internal part of the torsen, there is no 'paddle' and bolt,if those are missing they're difficult to find to buy. the ad doesn't state if it's a 2 or 3 series.

1993 camaro z28 would have had an Auburn posi, torsens didn't start until 1999. the auburns and torsens are interchangeable providing 'series' is maintained.

a 3.23 would have come with a 3 series carrier,2 series carriers were used for 2,73 & 3.08.

The picture matches exactly whats in the pic from what I can tell. Top left is the pinion yoke (where the DS attaches to). I see original side load OEM shims (thick), OEM bearing caps with bolts for the carrier bearings, and bearing races for the carrier. I do not see the pinion races (which are still in the housing I'm sure), and no block/paddle and matching bolt/pin.

And as stated, 93 should have an Auburn. If you had a 3.23 rear originally, then this will drop right in. And, this is from a 4 channel rear with ABS and traction control....notice the lack of the ABS reluctor on the posi.

I was thinking the Auburn was the Better of the two. Why go with a Torsen?

Auburn, conical clutch driven, they require LSD additive, they wear out over time, possible over-powering the weakly sprung clutches and causing one wheel peel, do not think there is a rebuild kit available, should be a very smooth application of torque transfer when working properly. Similar designs: tons.

Torsen, all gear driven (helicoil), cheap gear oil is all that's needed, there are no parts to "wear out", but overpowering at some point will cause a catastrophic failure, limited by design about how much torque they can transfer, and in a bind (think hard right turn) they can chatter the wheels under heavy throttle. Similiar designs: Detroit Tru-Trac

All that being said, I've been happy with my stock Torsen. It never failed to leave two equal length black marks. It will chatter (and sound like something is going to break) with a hard right turn just off a stop with heavy throttle. They simply don't like to transfer that much torque. Once the car is fairly straight, power transfer is smooth and predictable. I like the low maintenance design so much I bought a Tru-Trac for my 12 bolt.

An example of a gear driven posi:

You can NOT put a torsen in an auburn housing according to the GM shop manual.

We aren't talking about swapping posi internals. We are talking about swapping one complete carrier for another.

the rear end housings are the same- 10 bolt 7.5" I installed a Torsen in my 87 T/A when I added 28 spline axles, If I had my choice I get the 98 and later Torsen unit
