Question What is the "better" brand of gear??

Like the title says, what is the better gear maker to go with? I have a 02 z28 m6 cam bolt on car and looking at doing 4.10's for now until i start my new rear project later this year. I think i remember reading somewhere that one gear is better/quieter/stronger then then the other. I just want something that is decent and will hold me over for about a year or so. The car is daily driven for now and rarely sees the track. Thanks for any input and for reading. And the best master rebuild kit to purchase. Thanks again!!

Richmond and motive are really good.. I'm personally running richmond 4.10s for about 2 years now... mines a h/c/I car aswell (m6 obviously), running on street tires and never see the track.. weekend only car but I've put some miles on them... night and day difference with 4.10s

Save the money for a rear end IMO.

Thanks for the input. The rear end is just starting to make some bearing noise and I want to go through it before it gets any worse. And for a little bit more money I can install gears too. That's why I'm going this route for now. New rear end project is going to to cost a lot more then a gear swap/rebuild. So for now this is better then nothing.

if you want the absolute quietest gear possible then you want gm or aam 4.10's. yukon should also be almost dead quiet. however i'd suggest looking into the motive 3.90's they are an agressive street gear so they probably will make a little noise but I feel the ratio is better suited for the street than the 4.10 is also it has a larger pinion so it is also a stronger gear set. i run them in my car now and i have no complaints

Slomaro, I did exactly what you're thinking about doing. I used AAM 4.10s and they work great and are quiet. Your sig says you have no traction now, it's going to be alot worse with the 4.10s and it would be asking for trouble to use DRs with the M6. I've been without traction for 2 years and can tell you it's frustrating to have the gear and not be able to put a tire on it to make it work.

I'd say with a M6 you should just save and get a better rear that will handle a good tire. I looked at it this way, A S60 costs 2700 with a drive shaft, I could sell it used when I'm done with it for 18-2000 all day long, so for 7-900 bucks more I bought a S60 from Carl at CRP(great guy). All the money I put in my 10 bolt could've been spent elsewhere + my 10 bolt posi took a crap last fall= more good money after bad.

Good Luck, just imagine 4.10s with SLICKS!!!.....just a dream on a 10 bolt.

Agreed lol... Big risk you will take if you use 4.10 gears with slicks might consider investing on a new rear end
