Default 80's F150 8.8 in fbody.

Ok guys I have a 31 spline 8.8 out of a 80's f150 I'm pretty positive rear is similar to an explorer.

But what I'm wondering is would it work how it sits in an fbody without using 10 bolt tubes just weld on spring mounts and lca mounts and run a ford wheel with a 5.5 bs I believe is what I would need.

When I measure the rear it's about 58-59 inches from housing end I believe to housing end so how much shorter is that that a stock 10 bolt if I remember right it'd be about 3 inches per side?

And since its like the explorer it has the offset axle deal which I don't think would matter but may.

Just looking to save some money making it factory length and on axles since I won't be running a spare set of street wheels just my 15x10's with radials or bias ply.

Any Insight would be amazing.

Also gonna run hiltsy's t/a mount.

I recorded the dimensions of my Exploder axle and I'll have to check for sure but I think the offset won't allow you run it as is. It might be possible to run 2 x long or 2 x short axles and modify one side of the housing.
