So I'm putting my rear end back together and I don't know which way this little retainer block goes. The slot either points up or down. Everyone I've talked to has never seen this before and have only dealt with the pinion shaft, instead of this block. I'll upload pics. If you guys could tell me which way this goes, that would be awesome. Thanks!

it should go in just like you have it in the picture. the bolt goes through the small hole next to your palm.

Yeah I know it goes in like that but whether I should rotate it upside down depending on the direction of the little slot, plus the holes on the back of it are offset. So it either should be how I have it in the pic, or flipped upside down. I'm not sure.

im not following...use the location of the through bolt that holds it in and the rub marks from the axles. install it and see if the rub marks line up. if not flip it.

What rub marks? The pin lines up either way the block is put in. I just don't want to mess anything up by putting it in the wrong way

flip it. that angled slot will then be 'scooping' up gear lube during the carriers' rotation.
