Default rear end questions (got a whine in gears)?

So i have a 2000 trans am 6 spd w/ 4.10's in a stock rear now putting on strano springs this weekend and koni adjustable's ... i just put a 6.0 lq4 w/ forged internals and a f1 procharger and putting down 600 rwhp have the dual intercoolers on it right now and was going to go w/ a single next winter and will be well over 700.... i have a wine in my rear end on the highway and im pretty sure its the 410's???? im going to be looking for a new rear end in the near future and was thinking about going w/ 3.73 in a mwc 9". Im wanting something that is going to last me for a long time and also be a lot quitter haha.

Is it worth replacing the gears now to some 3.73 and will that will help w/ the wine or should i just wait and get new gears when i get a new rear end..

all comments wanted
Thanks guys

Bottom line is the faster you turn those gears the higher the chance for gear whine. It is pretty normal to get gear whine from 3.73's and up. My stock 3.42's even whine a little bit. With a FI car making that kind of power I would probably stay with 3.42's anyway.

so theres pretty much no way to get a set of gears and/or a rear end that will eliminate most if not all of the whine.... what do they use in the z06 and zr1's (Getrag 626) to keep the noise in the gears down??

guess what im trying to ask is there any way to get a nice rear w/ gears that dont make much noise and can handle the power??

iv heard that motive gears and My Superior's (made by American Axle) are pretty quiet?

My experience has been no matter how good the setup is you will still get a little whine when using 3.73/4.10 gears. I'm not saying its not possible to have a silent rear but I haven't seen it.
I'm guessing the cars mentioned have 3.42 or lower (numerically) ratios.
Not sure why you would want to run gears above 3.42 in a high hp FI car anyway. Your gonna be rowing through some gears quickly.

4.10's will be louder but we've done a bunch of 4.10/3.73's that are quiet with maybe a very slight noise cruising on the highway. Nothing turning on a radio doesn't get rid of.

Also, with the power level you are at, pretty much any gear in the stock rear will get worn and make noise.

ya i figured that and at this point my loud as radio barley covers the sound now hahah, guess ill just be saving up for a new rear and go with some 373 that is if i dont break my rear next weekend but already thought about getting another rear to replace it if i do.... Gotta be pretty easy to swap a used one in if i do break it correct??

Wow guess I was lucky.. Ive always used motive performance gears, 3.73 and 4.10 now. The 3.73s were silent, not a peep, and the 4.10s had very very little whine.

I wouldn't waste your money.. the first time you romp it with 10 bolt gears with any kind of traction they will probably start whinning again.
