Default Rear Diff Plug (10 Bolt)

Hello,

I'm trying to get the plug unscrewed out of my 10 bolt to add some fluid to it and I just can't seem to break it loose. I understand I should just use a 3/8" extension but after trying to unscrew it for a while I just gave up. Anyone have any suggestions on how to break it free? I've heard PB Blaster can help out, but wanted to get some thought from you all first before I bought a can! Thanks!

Pb blaster, heat, impact..just normal stuck bolt stuff. GL.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to get myself some PB blaster then... I don't have impact and I'm afraid to use any fire to heat it up so I'm going to hope that works otherwise I'm going to have to pay a Jiffy Lube or something to get it done for me

I just slipped a two foot long 1/2 or 3/4 inch pipe over the end of my breaker bar to get better leverage. Worked good for me. Another trick: heat the housing near the drain plug, and then use a can of compressed air (like you'd get for dusting out a computer), and spray it upside down for a couple seconds with the nozzle inside the socket hole of the drain plug. Be careful, that stuff will give you frostbite. Then quickly try to break the plug loose with your wrench or breaker bar.

I'd recommend an impact extension, I've sheared some
Fine Imported Socket Set extensions trying to open
pumpkin plugs before. Breaker bar and pipe, or a good
ratchet and keep rapping the tail with a mini sledge
and you'll get it free eventually.

Good advice! Thanks! My biggest worry is I strip it... Do you guys think there's a chance at that or am I pretty safe with this one?

You won't strip it, unless you're half in it. It'd be like stripping a socket out (on the driver end)... just doesn't happen

UPDATE: Finally got the plug out. A little PB Blaster and some extra leverage and I was finally able to break it free. Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions.
