Default 08-up C6 diffs, the C5/C6 need help w numbers

Everyone knows, that C5 drivelines, and the C6 units up to late 08 early 09 where all very fragile. You could break them with stock power, or big power, wouldn't matter. Some upgrades became available but, design of the case, could still crack and split. So what people do, is buy the 09 or newer units out of the manual corvettes, or performance optioned auto's. Not a cheap mod, fix by any means but, in the end, its probably the same as or cheaper to buy a C6 driveline out of an 09 or newer then to have your C5 driveline modded...that may not ever hold up to the power anyways.

This lead me on a long mission, to find a driveline. I ended up finding pretty much everything I need for my C5 driveline but the differential. I have had one on order, but, the company called me back to tell me they gave me wrong part number, and the correct part, is gonna be a few hundred bucks more.

What I do not know is, what are the differences inside the diff of each 09-up diff setup, so I can better figure out which one I really want, and really need.

The LS3 is supposed to be
GM Part #24241376

The Z06 is SUPPOSED to be
GM Part #24262486

The Zr1 I didn't find but, it is supposed to be $1000 more...

So does anyone know the LEGITIMATE part numbers for 09 and up 3.42 gear'd Corvettes, and does anyone know the actual difference between them?

Much help is appreciated... as even dealerships cannot give me a direct answer on these questions. In most cases, if not all, every dealership I called, would tell me the parts were only available in pieces...not as an assembly. Which isn't true...

Thanks again with your help.

lol...so much for a "differential section".

Ok...so,..my brain hurts.

24255566 is a part # for a 2010 only(7 liter),..some 2011's came with it, it's the "2nd" design. In 2011, they came out with a new case design,..a 4th generation case...which for a Z06 is 24262486 is the part number. Description for both parts come up as a 2nd design but, if you type in 24255566 for a 2012 you can not get it...not for a 2012...but for pat number 24262486 it will cross reference with all years....even a 2012 or newer. So, I think we are finally on right path...I appreciate the insight from everyone, and I hope this post/findings will further help out the corvette posse down the road should you find yourself in a situation like I/we did.

We just ordered one for my car, and one for my buddies F1X car I am building...

Thanks again. Parts expected next week... so it's a good chance my vette will be fully operational by next weekend. Like, death star operational.

Any update on your progress? I'm changing out my 05 driveline and need help figuring out the GM part numbers for diffs also. I have an RPM T56 tranny with 30 spline output and need a new diff to fit. I think the GM part # 24241376 will work (no cooling system), but ordering is scary if you are not sure... Any advice or help is much appreciated.
