You should put in a 9 inch. A 10 bolt will not last long behind a T56 & 450 RWHP.

If money is no option you could pick up some good disk brakes for it axles and a good locker. Or if your more of a budget build exploder 8.8 is a good choice. They come w 3:55-4:10 gears and factory posi w 31 spline axles. Look at all the 8.8 swaps and hiltsy for a torque arm mount.

Any aftermarket rear end will hold, 9 inch, s60, or 12 bolt. Bigger the better for the long run.

After much research I went with a MWC 9". If I had the tools and a little more know how I might have attempted an 8.8 build.

try the search function on this site, or a google search for fbody 8.8, 8.8 hybrid, etc....you'll find plenty

i've got an 8.8 thread going right now for my z28. the hiltsy mount is fabricated by a member this forum and is what i'm using on my build. mark is a very handy guy and has provided us with a great option for the do-it-yourselfer.

haha, i just looked on the first page of the gears-axles section, there are 4 threads about 8.8s

The Wavetrac differential is what I recommend for the power your car is going to be making. Check out the above link. Bob

From Carl at CRP for 2800 bucks I got a S60, 4.10, S-trac posi, 35 spline axles, BMR LCA relo brkts and 3 inch Chromo drive shaft, It's a rock solid Biotch.
so the only way to do it right is to buy a heavy s60?

i'll have less than half of that in my build, not everyone has 3k to throw around. my 8.8 will handle everything that i can throw at it and it doesn't eat as much power as the s60.

OP do whatever fits your budget and skill set. that is the best answer.

Hi Bob, do you know what the wavetrack diff weighs? I'm thinking of going to one instead of the spool in my 9" thanks

No I don't, not off hand. It's certainly going to have more mass to it than your spool, but as to how much I'm not sure. I'll find out for you. Thanks. Bob

This.

After putting my hands on the 12 bolt, 9 inch, and S60 my personal choice is an S60. If you have the tools and skills to build a 8.8 its a great option. Me personally, I don't like the fabbed tq arm mount on a 9. There's enough **** under these cars that can cause clearence issues so I just don't like the idea of adding another bulky mount that you could cast into the housing of a 12 bolt or s60.

The Moser M9 takes care of the bulky torque arm mounts. granted, it is more expensive but it comes with an awesome chrome moly torque arm and transmission crossmember. It also doesn't add any weight to the car as it is the same weight as the 10 bolt. Bob

Looks like I stand corrected. That's a nice piece, the ones I was referring to were not the fab 9 setups .
