Default 98 - 02 f car diff options

did auburn diff come in cars w/o traction control (tcs/asr) I have a 98 and a 02. my 98 has a eaton looking diff and i have a spare auburn off a 01 SS i'm parting out. can i swap the diffs w/o modding the rear end itself? I'd swap rears but my 98 ta is 3 channel and not going to do a 4 ch.conversion.

so what were the diff options and for what years with 3 or 4 channels
Thanks in advance
Charlie

I believe the reluctor ring for the 3 channel ABS is pressed on, so if you're hoping to just swap the carrier over you'll at least need to deal with that

99-up had Torsen standard with SLP offering an upgrade to an Auburn unit.

yes, it's an auburn unit... on the pinion yoke, i have quite some playin it... its actually caused me to stall slowing down in neutral (outta gear) M6 car and hitting the brakes at a lower speed. you can hear clunking and feel there's slack somewhere in the driveline. i took the driveshaft down and tightened the nut for the pinion some more, its not clunking as much, but need attention... maybe crush sleeve or something. so, wanted some 4.10s and time for a rebuild...

should i keep my eaton/torsen or whatever came stock in my 98 trans am or have it swapped for the auburn i have in my garage?
