Rear End Opinions
I'm currently in the middle of my T56 swap and right now all I have is my rear end with 3.23's in it from my automatic. I realize that the 3.23's are too small for the M6. I do not have a big budget for this swap, so right now anything like the S60, 12 bolt, etc. are out of the question. I wanted to get some of your opinions on what I should do.
I got quoted about $450-$500 for a 4.10 gear swap into my current 10 bolt. I don't know if I feel comfortable dropping this kind of money into the 10 bolt because of the well known reliability issues. I do not have drag radials, but I am still not sure how long they will really last me.
I found a stock rear end with 3.42's in the local junkyard for $300 with 98,000 miles on them. Would it be worth going this route just to get me through until I can save for an aftermarket unit?
Any input is greatly appreciated, as I am currently stuck on what I should do. Thanks guys

I got 95,000 out of my rear. My posi actually broke because the bolts came loose. What kind of tires do you run? I actually just put a drag radial on 3 weeks ago, had the car for 4 years now, never a problem with the rear until I put the sticky tires on. If you have regular street tires, you shouldnt have any issues.

If you run on street tires your rear end will last a long time. If you put drag radials on it and take it to the track kiss that 10 bolt good bye eventually. It really depends on your rwhp and clutch set-up too. IMO going from 3.23's to 3.42's is a waste of time. I run 3.90's and they're a good street gear. with the m6 I kinda wish I would have went with the 4.10's.
