Default Non traction control abs tone ring

Has anyone swapped an lt1 car rearend into their ls1 car and had the "abs inop" code set...I thought I read that the lt1 tone ring is only half the thickness of the ls1 tone ring...I'm assuming I have to pull the entire eaton carrier out in order to swap the tone ring...has anyone else done this? I just replaced my entire rearend after blowing up my 10 bolt, and I'm not looking forward to having to tear back into it...

Pardon the question, and I don't mean to offend or insult... but you did check the section of the harness that goes from the body to the rear axle? Make sure it's plugged in, the wires aren't broken internally, all that sorta stuff? 'Tis easy to let one's mind go wild and expect the worst. Check the low cost stuff first, that's my motto

Haven't heard that about the lt1 tone ring but haven't read the entire internet either. Working on it... :-P

2 series and 3 series carriers have different thickness rings, whether they be Auburn,Torson, or Eaton.

It had the same sensor to answer your ? Awake...

I didn't even think that the 2 or 3 series carrier had anything to do with it, what a dumbass I feel like now...both rear were 3 channel so I thought I would be good to go...damn it!

Is it possible to press the tone ring off and swap them or am I pretty much screwed bc I swapped from 2 series carrier to a 3 series posi?

Wouldn't the sensor be the same no matter which carrier it was stock or is the spacing between the teeth different?

Both rings have 106 teeth. Putting a 2 series ring on a 3 series carrier will move that 2 series ring away from the sensor. The wider ring of the 3 series extends its' reach back to the sensor.

Ok so why would I be getting the "abs inop" light if I swapped out a 3 channel 2 series rearend for a 3 channel 3 series rearend? Now I'm assuming the new eaton posi rear I put in is a 3 series carrier bc I don't think you can get a 2 series eaton, it has 3.42 yukon gears so t would have to be 3 series...I didn't disassemble the carrier to verify which reluctor ring it had...I have to pull the axles anyway bc the lt1 wheel studs aren't as long as the ls1 wheels studs

I just verified my new eaton posi is a 3 series posi with the thicker 3 series reluctor wheel so what gives? Do I have swap out the current abs sensor for the one out of my 2 channel rearend? I thought the sensor was the same???

pulling the carrier isn't necessary, just remove the rearend cover. 2 series ring is .230" (15/64) thick. 3 series ring is .540" (17/32) thick. With the cover off,you can visually check/verify that the ring is spinning in line with the hole that the sensor is located in.
If it's an electrical problem,I CAN'T help with that.

I posted ^^^ too late. Sensor is same,2 or 3 series.

Ok cool man thanks for the info, I guess all I can do is verify the alignment of the reluctor and swap sensors bc my abs was working before the 10 bolt went boom! Anyway what part of Ohio you from?
