Default Rear End Differences?

It's about that time to change my broken rear end. Just wondering is there any differences if I steal a read end from an automatic and put it in an manual. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

differences:
M6 is a 3.42 geared rearend,A4's could be either 2.73 or 3.23.
ABS only is 3 channel,ABS & TC is 4 channel.
2002 would have a Torsen 'posi'(1999-2002).
1998 and earlier would have an Auburn 'posi'.

Any SLP SS or WS6 or Firehawk could also have an Auburn as it was offered as an option along with the AAM finned aluminum rear end housing cover...my 2001 SS is optioned this way.
