Does anyone know the weight difference between a Detroit locker and a spool on a 9" ?

Trying to figure out how much weight I can save going to a aluminum case and a spool versus my present iron case and Detroit locker. I know the aluminum case saves about 12lbs.

Complete guesstimate but most posi's are 40-50lbs on the shipping label, spool probably 5-10 I would bet. Pretty big difference.

I can tell you that the lightweight pro race spool on my S60 weighed a lot less than the ring gear alone. You can't go any lighter than a spool in a race application.

The Strange aluminum 9"case is 20 lbs lighter than the iron.

The 35-spline spool weighs 8.2 lbs but I'm not certain the weight of the locker.

It will cost better than $600.00 to do this not including labor, sometimes its better to put that kind of money toward HP gains. You might end up shaving more ET per dollar spent!?

Definitely depends on mod level. Hp starts getting expensive!!
