Default Recommendation for Replacement rear end.

Looking for help in selecting a good rear end for my car. Mods are in my sig.
I'm planning on installing a pro charger but would like to upgrade my rear end before I do that. My car is my DD so I want something that not only last but reliable and efficient on the street. any help is appreciated.

I'm a fan of the 12 bolt. It takes less energy to turn than a 9 inch.

I think the 9 inch is not needed by most people. They are popular with racers only because they can swap the center sections easily, not because they are stronger or better. A few years back some one (I think it was Strange) made a 9 inch center section that used 12 bolt ring & pinion.

So unless you plan to swap gears I'd go with the 12 bolt.

9" rear end from Bob @ BruteSpeed or Eric @ MWC. Might as well go big and have a reliable rear end right?

OP, the 12 bolt will be just fine with your current mods and mostly street driving, but the 9 inch will take a bit more abuse

I have an S60, and I over did it for the peace of mind. You would be fine with a 12 bolt.. Moser or Strange, both have nice products.

Being your trans is A4 it is a little easier on parts than a similar combo with a T56, but you need to consider it is the 2nd biggest investment you will put into your ride.

The 12 bolt is a fine rearend, but if you plan any track time at all then it may be in your best interest to look into the others. The Strange 12 bolt is a fine piece if you go that route, but is actually more cost than the S60 in equivalent packages.

The Strange S60 is a very beefy and durable rearend. This rear is commonly called the best bang for the buck, but there are a few drawbacks if you look into it deeper comparing it to the 9"(MWC specifically).

The 9" rears out there will do everything you need and carry you well into the future if you outfit it correctly. The 9" rear will cost a bit more, but depending on options selected and what your current suspension setup is it maybe your best investment value.

At the end of the day you really need to consider what you have now, what your future goals are with the car, and what your best value is to you for the small differences in cost between the choices.

Feel free to give us a call and we can go over all the rearend choices for you and discuss what may be your best investment. MWC is a direct dealer for Strange, Moser, Yukon Gear, Motive Gear, as well as many other manufacturers. We also manufacture the most popular MWC fabricated 9" rearend- the most true bolt-in, street and race friendly 9" rearend on the market.

Whatever rear you decide on MWC guarantees the lowest price and the best tech help available. Give us a call!
