Question Is there ANYONE with 4.10's that DON'T whine??

I currently have Richmond 4.10's in my 2000 ws6 formula firebird and i am getting a rather noisy whine from the rear end at about 55 - 70 mph - which for this style of car is apparently well known for. IS there ANYONE out there that has 4.10's installed in their LS1 (99 and above) F-body and has NOT gotten any whine from it?? and if so, what manufacturer of gear do you have?

Also, if you have something other than and LS1 I would like to know as well but please say what their in and what's in it. Thhanks!

Do they have a brand/manufacturer attached to them or are they just generic "GM" 4.10 gears? Did they go into your stock 10 bolt rear end?

I have used both Strange and Motive 4.10s and both were very quiet. My Motives are still pretty quiet. They picked up some noise after cutting some 1.7 60's on slicks, but are still no louder than my stock 3.42. As long as they are not a knock off gear, they will be quiet if installed correctly.

I have richmond gears with the stock ten bolt in my 96 Z28 LT1 and it whines a bit from 65 to approx 75. However when I swapped to the aluminum driveshaft it went away almost completely. My driveshaft originally was a little off and was causing some vibration and a sort of HUM on the highway. But as far as actual gear whine I dont hear any now after the driveshaft. My gears were professionaly installed by a local speed shop and they definitely did it right cuz after the warm up phases and break in they changed the rear oil for me for free and I think that is helpful...I'm not sure but I'll take the free rear oil change anytime...lol

My 4.10 Richmonds in my stock 10 bolt were quieter than stock!! Motive-->different luck.

My Strange whines now with 4.10s, but bearable. 5th and 6th gears is the loudest around 55-70mph...
