Default 4.30, 27 or 28in tall

I ordered a 9in with a 4.30 and am about to buy tires for the car. The car is a m6 lid, and open y pipe car right now stock limiter but I am about to order arh 1 7/8 long tube and tsp duals with dumps. Would I be ok going with a 27in tall to finish in fourth just under the stock limiter? or do I need a 28in tall tire? tire will be a bias ply either 27x11.5x15 or 28x11.5x15. I have no Idea what the car mph. Anyone with similar set up have any advice?

4.30 in 4th (M6) @6200 RPMs =

27" Tire 115.89 mph
28" Tire 120.17 mph

Theoretical (should be close to actual with M6, but will vary based on tire pressure and vehicle weight).

Thanks a lot that's close to what the gear calculator gave me. Any idea what a lid and full exhaust car should mph?

I'm not to well versed in the LS1 Camaro Drag times, but I'd imagine not remotely close to those speeds. You will be in 4th through the traps on the 1/4 though (more than 90mph).

If you hit 110+mph I'd be surprised given your mods and the stock power of the LS1. Lighter weight does help, a LOT. So, if you've reduced weight you got that to factor in too. It will also be drastically affected by DA. But, I've been surprised by those LS1's before....

You should be around 110-115 mph with a bolt on ls1 fbody. Personally I'd go with the 28" tire. You want a little room to grow.

I agree, and you won't shock the surface of the tire as hard with 28" tall tires. Bob

Would I bog too much with a 28 with my mods? I feel like a 28 will slow me down a bit?

If you haven't seen it, read this article, should give you some answers.

FYI these gear/tire combos have roughly the same overall ratio:
4.10/26 tire
4.30/27
4.56/28

No idea, never launched a banger car on a tire. Going to try various rpms and see what works

Well to get the best results you rev it high and let the clutch out quick but not a dump if that makes sense. I launch at 6k plus

Still waiting on mwc to finish my 9in before I launch the car. Im most likely going with a 27x11.5x15 tire.
