lcfdvette,
I don't know how hard you drive your car, but I'd recommend moving the axle tube vent up higher. What I used is a 90* 1/8" npt/-4AN fitting then attached a -4AN female/ barbed fitting. Then run a length -4AN or 1/4" ID oil/fuel line hose up to the fuel filler neck and attach a small K&N(or similar) filter to the end of the hose, or you can insert the MWC vent/filter and wire tied the Hose to the fuel filler neck that's behind the removable panel in the DS wheel well. This will totally prevent ANY gear oil from leaking all over the axle tube and help prevent the vent from getting plugged up with debris which will eventually cause a leak around the axle tube ends. Yeah, it sounds overkill but I've read one to many threads over the yrs where someone had has issues with gear oil leaking out the vent fitting and/or it gets plugged up and leaks elsewhere. To date, I haven't had 1 drop of gear oil leak out the vent or anywhere else.
BTW, clock the 90* fitting with the vent outlet pointed mainly at center section housing, but slightly forward in the two O-clock to three O-clock position range (when viewed from above) .
Here's a parts list for the fittings:
-AN to NPT Adapter Fitting.

-AN to Hose Barb fitting.

-4AN or 1/4" ID Hose length is in the 12-18" range.

I think I'll probably drive mine to work a few days at a 70 mile round trip per day and then go on a road trip over the weekend. That way it I'll only take me a week, or slightly less. I don't think I can wait much longer than that

Well I have put 150 miles on the rear and so far so good. Except my fuel pump decided to take a dump on me. Now to decide what fuel pump to get. I was recommended the Aeromotive 340.

If I could do it again I would have them assemble it too. Wasn't all that hard really except for dropping the center section in, it's a heavy bitch by yourself. I had a shop close by press everything on the axles for $20. I stayed there and watched them to make sure they got it right.

Stock or heavily modded our fabricated rear ends are the best precautionary measures one can take to save themselves headache and money in the future.. They are the only true rear end that bolts back in the same way a 10-bolt came out..

If you can swing the price of it now I'd definitely go ahead and get it. I know for me it's not always easy to come up with that kind of money so when I had it I bought it. Now I don't have to worry about my rear at all. I just bought a cam and have a set of 243s I'm gonna throw on. I will be able to put on some sticky tires and beat on it and enjoy it, not be one of those guys worried about his 10 bolt all the time.
